Two years ago, Rosendin began a process to re-imagine how our teams perform design-build projects. The result is the development of an internal certification program for Rosendin employees who work on design-build projects.

The team developing this certification program includes individuals from various departments, including Preconstruction, Engineering, BIM, Training, Project Management, and Field Operations. Throughout 2021 and 2022, this team worked to determine the skill sets needed for the successful delivery of design-build projects, developed a manual, and implemented an evaluation process by which Rosendin employees can become certified.

Now known as Rosendin Design Build (RDB), this team actively works to ensure that all Rosendin design-build projects include at least one RDB-certified construction professional. RDB is working toward a goal of having all project leads on any design-build project certified under this program.

WHY RDB CERTIFICATION?
The assembly of a design-build team is key, and understanding the roles and responsibilities of each team member is of the utmost importance. As each person executes their portion of the project, there is an expectation that all team members are accountable to the project team. In addition, the use of metrics is essential to provide RDB teams with real-time feedback on how successfully they are executing work and following the RDB process. Metrics are intended to be based on quantifiable data and made available at predictable intervals or milestones, including budget conformance, customer satisfaction, project rework/changes, schedule conformance, and project efficiency.

“It’s not difficult to convince customers of the benefits of design-build.”

“They know that the design-build process brings a collaborative spirit, practical perspectives, and cost-effective design to projects,” said Ron Wilson, P.E., Vice President, Engineering.

“Individuals interested in completing the program can submit a request form to learn more about the criteria and timeline. More than 25 Rosendin construction professionals have participated in the program, with 25 currently certified.”

  • Rosendin is committed to giving back to the communities where we work and live. Our Texas team was recently honored at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post of Leander, Texas Annual Dinner for contributing to the Texas Pumpkin Fest.

The annual event features exciting attractions, local vendors, and a mini carnival. Most importantly, it raises close to $50,000 annually for its cause. In 2024, the Post transitioned from using portable generators at the event to traditional cord and plug-type distribution. Rosendin's engineers and electricians graciously volunteered their time to help design and execute this change for a successful event.

Thank you to our Texas team and Jeffery Johanson, Senior Project Manager and VFW member, for spearheading this effort and living our core values.

  • Traditionally, installing solar panels is a multi-person, manual job including carrying, balancing, and mounting panels one at a time, each weighing between 80-lb to 100-lb. Safety is our top priority at @RosendinInc, and we knew we had to find a way to make this process more efficient and less exhausting for our employees.

We are excited to announce that we have partnered with @ULCTechnologies to build robots that support our solar panel installers with their strenuous work. David Lincoln, Rosendin SVP, shared more about the research, development, and launch of this emerging technology in an article for Engineering News-Record (ENR).
